Cortland Weather Outlook: Monday, June 21

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Monday, June 21, 2021:

An approaching cold front will clash with hot and humid air and a moderate jet stream aloft to bring a chance for scattered severe thunderstorms this afternoon.

The morning hours will be a mix of sun and clouds. A few showers lingering from thunderstorms across the Great Lakes last night will also be possible, mostly before 8 AM.

Then, this afternoon, lines of showers and storms will develop. Multiple rounds of thunderstorms will be possible. Any storms will be capable of damaging winds, large hail, and frequent lightning. Not every storm will become severe, though.

Between the storms, skies will remain a mix of sun and clouds.

Temperatures will soar this morning thanks to blustery southwest winds of 15 mph. Gusts of 35-40 mph will be possible.

Highs will peak in the upper 80s to possibly even near 90 degrees ahead of the thunderstorms during the midday and early afternoon hours.

Temperatures will drop into the 70s with the thunderstorms, then fall through the 60s this evening and into the mid 50s after midnight.
