Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, June 24

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, June 24, 2021:

A sunny but breezy day is ahead as temperatures continue to rise.

High pressure will be centered over New England today, bringing plenty of sunshine to the area today. Few, if any clouds are expected.

With the high pressure system to the east, the clockwise flow of air around the high will result in south winds across our region. Low pressure over the Mid-Atlantic will help enhance those winds.

Wind speeds will be near 10 mph throughout the day. Gusts will be highest from the late morning through the afternoon and will be around 25 mph.

The increase in warm air aloft will help prevent fair weather clouds from developing. At the surface, afternoon highs should reach the mid 70s.

Skies will remain mostly clear tonight and south winds will continue at 5-10 mph. Temperatures will drop through the 60s this evening and end up in the low 50s by dawn.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Friday: Mostly sunny. Increasing thin clouds late. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy with on and off showers. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Sunday: Partly cloudy. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 80s.

Monday: Sun and clouds. A few afternoon showers and storms. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Afternoon highs near 90.
