Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, July 2, 2021:

A weak area of low pressure to the southeast will keep the weather unsettled and showery once again today.

On and off rain showers will be possible at any point today but will especially focus on the afternoon and early evening hours.

A couple of the showers may have some heavier downpours or some rumbles of thunder. Severe thunderstorms are not expected, though.

Clouds will remain thick throughout the day, with nothing more than a rare, brief glimpse of sunshine, if even that.

The showers will gradually decrease in coverage through the evening hours, but a few spits of rain could linger even beyond midnight.

Winds will be from the northwest at around 5 mph. Top gusts will be around 20 mph.

High temperatures will top out around 70 degrees this afternoon. A drop through the 60s will take place this evening with upper 50s overnight.

Tuesday: Sun and clouds. Some late showers and thunderstorms possible. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.
