Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, July 9, 2021:
Our weather will start to trend quieter today as the remains of Tropical Storm Elsa and the active jet stream pattern depart.
Still, it will be a rather cloudy day with only occasional glimpses of the sun. A few showers will be possible this morning, and a couple more showers or small storm cells may pop-up this afternoon.
All in all, though, much of the day should be dry.
Winds will be from the northwest on the backside of Elsa with speeds of 5-10 mph. Top gusts on the day will be just over 20 mph.
High temperatures will reach the mid 70s. If a little extra sun comes out, upper 70s will be possible. Dewpoints will remain between 65-70 most of the day but will start to drop late.
A few more stray showers will be possible through the overnight with clouds remaining in place. Dewpoints will drop to around 60 degrees and overnight lows will be in the low 60s.
