Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, July 14, 2021:

A front will move through the region, triggering a line of midday rain and thunderstorms.

Sunshine will mix with some clouds this morning ahead of the front. Southwest winds of 5-10 mph will continue to keep warm, humid air in place.

By noontime, a broken line of shower and storms will developing just to the northwest and will sweep through the region. Some gusty winds may accompany the storms, but the still should be new enough to not pose more than a marginal severe threat.

Once the line moves east, the rest of the day should mostly be dry. A stray shower or brief thunderstorm may pop up as temperatures rebound behind the first band of rain, but these will be few and far between.

Winds will turn to the west behind the front, remaining at 5-10 mph speeds. Temperatures will reach the upper 70s to near 80 degrees both before the front, and several hours after its passage later in the afternoon.

Tonight will be partly cloudy and dry. Temperatures will slowly back into the 60s. Dewpoints will drop slightly, but it will still feel muggy.
