Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, July 15

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, July 15, 2021:

High pressure will build into the region today, giving us a brief respite from the active weather.

Areas of morning fog will gradually burn off as the sun rises higher in the sky. Outside of the fog, skies will be mostly clear, though fair weather clouds will start to bubble up.

More fair weather clouds are expected through the afternoon. One or two may be capable of a brief spit of rain. These showers will be few and far between.

Winds will be from the southwest at 5-10 mph. Top gusts will be just over 20 mph.

These winds will push warmer air into the region while keeping humidity levels high. Look for afternoon highs in the low and mid 80s today.

Tonight, clouds will increase as thunderstorms from the Great Lakes move toward the region. Most of the precipitation should dissipate before arriving in Central New York, but if there are any showers, they would come after midnight.

It will be another warm, muggy night with temperatures in the mid and upper 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Friday: Mostly cloudy. Showers and storms possible. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Saturday: Rain and some thundery downpours. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Sunday: Clouds, a little sun, and possibly a few showers or storms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.
