On July 20th, 2021 at about 3:00 PM, City police arrested Darin J. Golden (36) of 22 Court Street, Apartment 33, Cortland, following allegations that he had sexually abused a girl less than 11 years old. That Incident had reportedly occurred on July 18th, 2021 at Golden's apartment while he was babysitting the child.
Police first became aware of the incident when Golden himself walked into the Sheriff's Office and reported the incident. The City police conducted an investigation that corroborated what Golden had reported.
Golden was charged with;
- Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child (A-II Felony)
- Incest in the 1st Degree (Felony)
- Criminal Sex Act in the 1st Degree (2 Counts) (Felony)
- Sex Abuse in the 1st Degree (2 Counts) (Felony)
Golden was arraigned and reamnded to the CCJ without bail. He is scheduled to appear again in City Court on July 23, 2021 at 1:30 PM.
