Nearly two dozen citations were issued during an Operation Hard Hat detail in Cortland County.
The initiative took place on July 27, 2021 while members from Suit-Kote completed work along Interstate 81 in the city of Cortland. During the initiative, a trooper blends in with the workers in an active work zone and watches for risky and unsafe behavior.
23 total tickets were issued during the detail.

Motorists are urged to drive responsibly in work zones. Please follow the posted signage. Move over a lane, when it’s safely possible or whenever encountering vehicles displaying red, white, blue, amber or green lights. Everyone working on the side of the road deserves to go back home to their family!
