Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, July 29, 2021:

A series of disturbances will pass through the region today bringing a chance for showers and a couple thunderstorms.

Rain will be possible at any time today but will be most common in the afternoon and early evening hours. Most of the rain that falls will be scattered showers, and there should be plenty of dry time between the showers.

A few thunderstorms may also be possible but severe weather is not expected to be a concern.

Skies will be rather cloudy throughout the day, but a few breaks of sunshine here and there will also be possible.

Winds will be from the south at around 10 mph with gusts as high as 25-30 mph. This evening, winds will turn more southeasterly for a couple hours, then swing around to the northwest as one of the disturbances passes overhead.

Temperatures will be on the cool side, which will help limit the thunderstorm potential. Most of the day will be in the low 70s, through any sunshine will help temperatures break into the mid 70s.

Evening temperatures will slide through the 60s and overnight lows will be around 60 degrees.

Friday: Clouds and showers early. Then some sun. Morning lows near 60. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows near 50. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.

Sunday: Cloudy with showers and thunderstorms. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Monday: Maybe a morning shower. Some afternoon sun. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.
