Cortland County Sheriff's Office Participates in Statewide Effort to Prevent Speeding

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee announced the start of the “Speed Awareness Week “campaign.

This campaign runs from July 31st to August 8th, which focuses on reducing speed-related crashes and saving lives. The intensified engagement and enforcement effort aimed at speeding drivers underscores the severity of the problem, both locally and across the nation.

During Speed Awareness Week, officers will engage the public to inform them and educate about the dangers of speeding and will intensify enforcement of posted speed limits and problem areas within Cortland County.

Officers of the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting traffic stops and may ticket anyone caught speeding. The goal at the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office is to save lives, and are putting all drivers on alert. Obey the speed limit.
