Cortland Weather Outlook: Sunday, August 1

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Sunday, August 1, 2021:

A cold front will move through the region late today triggering afternoon showers and storms.

Some sunshine this morning will gradually be replaced by clouds by midday. While a stray shower cannot be ruled out, most areas should remain dry through the morning and into the early afternoon.

The best chance for showers and storms will come in the mid to late afternoon, especially in the 3-6 PM window. A few storms could have some gusty winds or small hail, but a robust severe weather event is not expected.

It will then remain cloudy through tonight with the occasional light shower from time to time.

Winds will be from the south and southwest at around 5 mph ahead of the front. After the storms move through and the front follows close behind, winds will turn to the northwest. After midnight, wind speeds will increase slightly.

High temperatures today will reach the mid 70s but will fall quickly with the arrival of the storms late in the day. Evening temperatures will fall to near 60 and overnight lows will be in the mid 50s.
