Cortland Weather Outlook: Wednesday, August 11

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, August 11, 2021:

Another hot and humid day is ahead for Cortland County and Central New York.

Skies will be mixed throughout the day with some sunnier periods and some cloudier ones. Generally, though, much of the day will be dry. The best chance for a few stray showers or storms will be late in the afternoon and into the early evening.

Given the high amounts of heat and humidity to fuel storms, anything that does pop-up will have the potential to contain constant lightning, torrential downpours, and some strong winds.

Outside of any storms, the background winds will be from the southwest at 5-10 mph. Gusts will top out between 20-25 mph.

Afternoon highs will top out in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. Dewpoints will hover near 70 degrees, making it feel very muggy.

Nighttime will provide little relief with only a slow drop through the 70s to an overnight low around 70.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Thursday: Hot and humid with scattered afternoon showers and storms. Morning lows near 70. Afternoon highs near 90.

Friday: Afternoon showers and storms. Morning lows near 70. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.

Saturday: Increasing sunshine. Cooler and less humid. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Sunday: More sun than clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
