Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, August 17, 2021:

A southerly flow of tropical moisture will keep conditions humid and wet today with multiple chances for rain.

Showers and a few downpours continuing from overnight will linger through the early and mid morning hours. The rain will come and go during this time, affording some breaks between showers.

The precipitation will become less during the late morning with a break of several hours persisting through the midday. Some limited sunshine may poke out during this time.

Dewpoints will rise to around or slightly above 70 and temperatures will top out in the mid and upper 70s.

It will not take much for new showers and storms to pop up during the mid to late afternoon. These will be scattered at first, but capable of some lightning and torrential downpours.

By evening, the thundery downpours may diminish but showers will become more widespread and continue through the night.

Winds throughout the day and evening will be from the south with speeds of 5-10 mph.

Thursday: Periods of rain, possibly heavy. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Friday: A few more scattered showers. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Saturday: Sun, clouds, and some scattered showers. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.
