County speaks on the current flooding situation

Press release provided by Cortland County Clerk of the Legislature Savannah Hempstead.

Torrential rainfall over the past two days caused flooding and other concerns throughout Cortland County. There are numerous flooded roadways and washed out roads. Do not drive through standing water, as the roads may have washed out.

If you see an area of concern, or are experiencing power outages or flooding, do not hesitate to call 911.

Although the heavy rainfall has subsided, water levels will continue to rise. Continue to use caution when traveling. Cortland County’s Highway Department personnel continue to clean up the damage and assess roadways. Avoid affected areas as much as possible, and slow down while driving.

The Cortland County Highway Department has reported the following road closures at this time:

  • Song Mountain Road
  • Kellogg Road
