Cortland Weather Outlook: Saturday, August 21

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Saturday, August 21, 2021:

Scattered showers and storms will pop up this afternoon as atmospheric moisture subtly creeps upward as Hurricane Henri lurks off the Mid-Atlantic coast.

Skies will be mixed throughout the day. Some periods will turn out sunny while others are more cloudy. Generally speaking, the midday and early evening hours are the most likely to be mostly clear.

Rain showers will be most likely during the early to mid afternoon. They will be scattered, so not all areas will see rain, and those that do will only see individual showers last for a short time.

A few heavier downpours are possible, which could cause some minor flooding issues in areas that have been hit hard already this week. For the most part though, these will just be nuisance showers and not overly threatening.

Afternoon highs will top out around 80 degrees with dewpoints around 70 degrees. Tonight, temperatures will fall back into the upper 60s.

Any lingering evening showers will quickly dissipate for a mostly quiet overnight.

Nighttime temperatures will retreat into the mid 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Sunday: Sun, clouds, and a few scattered showers. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Monday: Some early sun. Then increasing clouds and a few late showers. Small alternate chance for a cloudy, rainy day from Henri. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Tuesday: A mix of sun and clouds. Maybe a few morning showers. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Wednesday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a late shower. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 80s.
