Kathy Hochul, the Lieutenant Governor of New York for the past seven years, was officially sworn in as the 57th Governor of the state Tuesday morning.

“It’s an emotional moment for me, but one that I’m prepared for,” she said. “I look forward to continuing the work that I have to do.”

Gov. Hochul steps in after former Gov. Andrew Cuomo resigned from his position amid the state attorney general’s report that concluded he sexually harassed 11 women. Cuomo announced his resignation on Aug. 10, and his last day in office was Monday.

Hochul noted she has received full support for her administration from President Joe Biden.

“There will be a change in culture in Albany,” Hochul said. “That’s why I’m looking forward to a fresh, collaborative approach.”
