Cortland Weather Outlook: Wednesday, August 25

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, August 25, 2021:

High pressure will continue to dominate our region today but temperatures and humidity will come up another notch.

As the center of the high shifts east, and as a disturbance moves into the Upper Great Lakes, winds will respond by being more southerly today.

There will be variations in the wind direction, sometimes from the southwest, other times the southeast, and much of the time in the middle straight from the south. Wind speeds will be light, around 5 mph, but the impact will be felt.

High temperatures will climb into the mid 80s this afternoon with pockets pushing into the upper 80s. Dewpoints will be in the upper 60s to near 70, pushing heat index values to near or above 90 degrees.

There will be plenty of sunshine throughout the day. The sun will mix with some thin cirrus clouds and a collection of small fair weather clouds.

Precipitation is generally not expected, but there is a small chance for an isolated shower or brief storm late this afternoon and evening. Most, if not all the county, should stay dry, though.

The threat for a stray shower will persist through the night. Temperatures will remain warm with overnight lows in the upper 60s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Thursday: A few scattered showers and storms. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 80s.

Friday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a few showers. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Afternoon highs around 80.

Saturday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.
