Cortland man faces multiple charges from disturbance at city residence

A city of Cortland man is facing multiple charges following a disturbance at a residence on Elizabeth Street on Wednesday.

Jeremiah T. Evans, 35 of Elizabeth Street in Cortland, choked a 14-year old boy and threatened to put a 16-year old girl’s head through the wall during a physical altercation at the residence prior to midnight Wednesday. 

Police arrived at the scene and managed to break up the altercation.

Evans has been charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and criminal obstruction of breathing (both misdemeanors), and two counts of harassment (a violation).

Evans was arraigned in city court Thursday morning. He was released on one’s own recognizance (ROR), and is due to appear back in city court on Friday, Sept. 10 at 2 p.m.
