Cortland Weather Outlook: Friday, August 27

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, August 27, 2021:

A frontal boundary will slowly sink southward today, keeping some clouds and a few stray showers in the forecast.

The best chance for a shower will come during the morning hours. Any rain that falls will be light and most areas will once again stay dry.

Through the afternoon, as the boundary sinks further south and away from the area, sunshine will work through the clouds and increase. Skies may even become mostly clear by sunset.

Mostly clear skies will be likely overnight, though with a few occasional patches of passing clouds. No rain is expected.

With the front to the south, winds will be out of the north today, but only at about 5 mph. Top gusts on the day will be near 15 mph.

The north wind and clouds will reduce the heat and humidity a little. Highs will be in the low to perhaps mid 80s with dewpoints in the upper 60s to near 70 instead of the low and mid 70s of the last few days.

Temperatures tonight will drop into the mid 60s. A few areas of fog may form in the usual area.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Saturday: A few scattered showers and thunderstorms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Sunday: A few scattered showers and thunderstorms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Monday: Thunderstorms likely. Morning lows in the upper 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Tuesday: Increasing sunshine. Cooler and much less humid. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
