Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, September 2

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, September 2, 2021:

The weather will have a bit of a fall feel today as gusty winds behind the remains of Ida keep our weather on the cool side.

Sunny skies early this morning will quickly fill with fair weather clouds by the mid-morning hours. The clouds will be numerous and thick at times, making for a mostly cloudy late morning and afternoon.

However, rain is not expected from any of these clouds, despite their occasionally threatening appearance.

The wind will be coming in from the northwest at 10-15 mph. Gusts of 25-30 mph will be common, and peak gusts should top out just over 30 mph.

Between the wind and cloud cover, temperatures will struggle once again today. Look for highs in the mid 60s.

Late in the day, the clouds will diminish, but not completely disappear. Partly cloudy skies will persist through the overnight, possibly with a spit of rain here or there.

Even with the clouds overnight, northwest winds will continue to keep temperatures cool with lows in the low 50s. The nighttime winds will not be as strong, with top gusts of 10-15 mph.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:
