Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, September 7

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, September 7, 2021:

A small area of high pressure will pass southeast of the region today bringing pleasant, mild weather to the area.

Skies will be a mix of sun and clouds throughout the day. Some scattered clouds will be possible through the early morning, coming off Lake Ontario. Afternoon clouds will generally be fair-weather cumulus clouds that bubble up in the daytime heating.

The best chance for clear skies will be during the mid to late morning and again late in the afternoon into the evening.

No rain is expected today at any time.

A gentle southwest breeze will blow at around 5 mph. Top gusts will be just under 20 mph. The wind will increase to near 10 mph this evening as it turns to the due south. 

Afternoon temperatures will top out in the mid 70s today, which is just about on target for early September. 

The south winds tonight, along with some gradually increasing clouds, will hold temperatures in the low 60s.

Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Friday: Cloudy with a few more showers until some late clearing. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows near 50. Afternoon highs near 70.
