Cortland Weather Outlook: Friday, September 10

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, September 10, 2021:

Today will bring another taste of fall as we start off with some lake effect showers and end with some cool sunshine.

Lake effect showers have been off and on throughout the night and will continue for a time this morning. By the midday hours, dry air will be moving into the region and daytime heating will warm temperatures enough that the lake effect should dissipate.

Clouds will linger into the afternoon, but sunshine should gradually increase. By the evening hours, skies will become mostly clear.

Winds will come steadily from the northwest today. The strongest speeds will be this afternoon, clocking in around 10 mph. Top gusts during this time will be between 25 and 30 mph.

Temperatures will be chilly with the wind and only gradually increasing sunshine. Look for highs no higher than 65 degrees, with many areas falling a couple degrees short of even that.

As skies clear tonight, temperatures will drop into the mid 50s early on. Overnight lows will be near or just below 50 degrees despite the wind turning to a more southerly direction.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the upper 40s to near 50. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.
