Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Monday’s events:
Varsity Boys Soccer: Cincinnatus vs. McGraw
The Cincinnatus Lions took down McGraw in their first County matchup of the season with a score of 7-1.
Cincinnatus’ offense was led by Cason Stafford (4 goals & 3 assists), Scott Schuyler (2 goals & 2 assists), Canden Stafford (1 goal), and Dominick Landers (1 assist).
McGraw’s only goal was scored by Jackson Card.
Both teams will be playing each other again for their annual matchup at SUNY Cortland on Saturday, September 25th at 5pm.
Until then, the Lions will be facing off against Otselic Valley at home on Tuesday (September 14th) at 4:30pm; while McGraw takes on Stockbridge Valley at home on Tuesday (September 14th) at 4:30pm.
Varsity Girls Soccer: Homer vs. Marcellus
The Homer Lady Trojans lost a tough 0-2 game against Marcellus on Monday.
Both of Marcellus’ goals were scored by Jadyn Baker. Both Sara Mielnicki and Katie MacLachlan assisted Baker on her goals.
Catherine Apker made 12 saves and Alex Kellaway made 4 saves for Homer at goal.
The Lady Trojans will look to shake this game off against Groton at home on Wednesday (September 15th) at 6pm.
Varsity Girls Tennis: Homer vs. Jordan-Elbridge
The Homer Varsity Girls Tennis team defeated Jordan-Elbridge 6-1 on Monday.
Here is a breakdown of Monday’s matches:
- First Singles: Homer’s Emma Effinger lost to Jordan-Elbridge's Anisa Adi (6-4 & 6-2).
- Second Singles: Homer’s Elia Spanbauer won by forfeit.
- Third Singles: Homer’s Charlotte Wallis won by forfeit.
- First Doubles: Homer’s Rachel Bouwens & Madelyn Cotterill won by forfeit.
- Second Doubles: Homer’s Georgia Wallis & Georgianna Goodwin defeated Jordan-Elbridge's Leah Dixon & Madelynn Mott (6-1 & 6-1).
- Third Doubles: Homer’s Lauren Franco & Molly Gallagher defeated Jordan-Elbridge's Mary McGinn & Emily Chiaramonte (6-1 & 6-1).
- Fourth Doubles: Homer’s Emily Barber & Nina Svereika won by forfeit.
