Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, September 16

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, September 16, 2021:

The front that has been bouncing around the region all week, and brought the storms and rain yesterday, has settled to our south once again.

Cooler air behind the front has led to the development of some fog this morning. That will dissipate by the mid-morning as the sun climbs higher in the sky.

Skies may become mostly sunny for a time before fair-weather clouds bubble up for the midday and afternoon hours. No rain is expected from any of these clouds, though.

Winds will be gentle today, coming in from the east at near or under 5 mph. Tonight, the wind will increase to slightly above 5 mph as it turns to the southeast.

That wind shift should bring in some new clouds for the nighttime hours and a shower in the predawn hours cannot be totally ruled out.

High temperatures today will reach the mid 70s. Temperatures will then drop into the low 60s this evening.

As the southeast wind kicks in and clouds start to push back toward our region, the temperature may come up into the mid 60s during the overnight period.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Friday: Clouds, some sun, and scattered showers during the morning and mid-afternoon. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the upper 70s.

Saturday: Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
