Cortland Weather Outlook: Friday, September 17

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, September 17, 2021:

Moisture will attempt to increase across the area once again today, but little precipitation will result.

Skies will be rather cloudy through the morning. A few isolated showers will accompany the clouds. Most areas will not see any appreciable rain, though.

The clouds will start to break up during the midday and afternoon hours. By the late afternoon, skies should be more sunny than cloudy.

The chance for a stray shower will continue into the early and mid afternoon. Again though, most areas will see little to no rain.

Part of the reason rain will be hard to come by is the lack of any substantial weather systems in the area. Instead, the weather today will be driven by southeast winds turning to the south.

This flow will bring higher humidity into the area with dewpoints creeping back into the 60s. Afternoon highs will also increase, reaching the upper 70s.

The wind will blow at speeds of around or just over 5 mph. Top gusts on the day will be near 20 mph.

Tonight, skies will be mixed and a shower after midnight cannot be totally ruled out. Some areas of fog may also develop. Temperatures will settle in the mid 60s thanks to the periods of clouds and the continued south winds.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Saturday: Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs near 70.

Monday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Tuesday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.
