Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, September 21

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, September 21, 2021:

A large area of moisture and unsettled weather is creeping towards our region, but the high pressure that has kept our region dry and sunny will not be easily moved.

The end result will be a mixed day. Conditions will stay dry, but we will lose out on much of the sunshine. Some will still filter through the overcast, especially this morning, but it will be far from the sunny, blue skies of the last two days.

A few showers may start to arrive by the evening hours, but any rain that falls should be brief, light, and isolated.

Breezy south winds will develop today with speeds near or just above 10 mph. Top gusts be around 30 mph, with the higher elevations seeing the highest winds.

Despite the south winds, the loss of the sunshine will lead to a slight reduction in temperature compared to yesterday. Look for highs to just get over 70 degrees.

Nighttime temperatures will not drop much, bottoming out in the low 60s overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Wednesday:  Cloudy with a few showers possible. Morning lows in the low 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Thursday: Increasing chances for rain late in the day, likely heavy overnight. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Friday: Becoming mostly sunny. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Perhaps some showers. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.
