Cortland Weather Outlook: Wednesday, September 22

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, September 22, 2021:

Unsettled weather will continue to draw closer to the region and will be on our doorstep, but still, much of the day will turn out precipitation free.

Clouds will be well entrenched across the area throughout the day. A brief glimpse or two of sunshine will not be impossible but will be the exception to the rule.

On the flip side, a few stray showers may make it this far east from time to time as well. Again, for most of the time, this will not be the case, and it will just simply be a cloudy day.

The once exception will be late this afternoon and early this evening when there is a bit higher of a chance for some showers.

Winds will continue to increase with speeds of 10-15 mph coming from the southeast. Top gusts will be higher than yesterday, clocking in around 35 mph. Higher elevations may even gust a bit higher than that.

Temperatures will benefit from the relative lack of rainfall, but will still struggle to get beyond the low 70s. If a little sun manages to come out, mid 70s are not out of the question.

Showers will decrease overnight with the rain retreating back to the west. It will remain cloudy and windy which will hold temperatures into the mid 60s overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Thursday: Increasing chances for rain late in the day, likely heavy overnight. Morning lows in the mid 60s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Friday: Sunny with some afternoon fair weather clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Perhaps some showers late. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.

Sunday: An early shower. Then, increasing sun. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the low 60s.
