Cortland Weather Outlook: Friday, September 24

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, September 24, 2021:

A quiet and cooler day is ahead for the area behind yesterday’s soggy cold front.

Areas of fog will burn off during the early to mid morning hours, leaving skies mostly clear for a time. Fair weather clouds will start to develop by the late morning and should become plentiful for the afternoon.

No rain is expected from these clouds, and by the late afternoon, they will dissipate, and skies will once again be clear for the evening.

Winds will be from the southwest with speeds as high as 10 mph. Top gusts will peak at about 25 mph.

The wind will be from the southwest, but cool air wrapping all the way around the low pressure that brought yesterday’s cold front will mean cooler air will move in.

Look for afternoon highs to top out in the mid 60s with a quick drop through the 50s this evening. With skies staying clear through the night, temperatures should easily get down into the mid 40s overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Perhaps a late shower. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.

Sunday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Monday: Cloudy with showers. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs near 60.
