Cortland Weather Outlook: Wednesday, September 29

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, September 29, 2021:

Another cold front will move through the region today but with little fanfare.

Clouds will thicken ahead of the front and as the daytime heating, limited though it may be, kicks in. The clouds will become thick at times, especially during the midday and afternoon hours.

As the front drops through, a brief shower cannot be ruled out. Most areas will not see rain, though. Any rain that does fall will be light.

Winds will be from the west for a while this morning before the front shifts the wind direction to the northwest. The wind will also pick up speed, increasing to just over 10 mph during the afternoon. Top gusts will be around 30 mph.

Temperatures will struggle today with the wind and clouds and highs will only be around 60 degrees.

Lake effect clouds and a couple more stray showers are likely tonight. As long as the clouds stay overhead, temperatures will stick to the upper 40s. If skies clear at all, mid or even low 40s will be possible overnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Thursday: More clouds than sun. Maybe a little drizzle or a few showes. Morning lows in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Friday: Rather cloudy. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.

Saturday: Sun early, then thickening clouds. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs near 70.

Sunday: Rain showers likely. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.
