The Homer Lady Trojans defeated the Cortland Purple Tigers in four sets on Monday.

This was Homer’s second win of the season against Cortland, as they played each other earlier in the season on September 8th.

The Trojans were led by Kloey Roos (3 aces, 11 kills & 8 digs), Lilly Sorenson (12 kills, 8 blocks & 3 digs), Mya Updyke (3 aces, 2 kills & 27 assists), and Mallory Douglass (14 digs).

The now 7-3 overall Lady Trojans will host Phoenix on Tuesday (October 5th) at 6pm, while Cortland (now 4-5 overall) plays against Fulton at home on Thursday (October 7th) at 6pm.

Varsity Girls Soccer: Cortland vs. Chittenango

The Cortland Purple Tigers won a close game in the rain against Chittenango on Monday with a score of 3-1.

According to Cortland Head Coach Ilona Ryon, only one half of the game was played, as both teams decided to call the game at halftime to keep players safe because of weather conditions.

“Both teams braved the downpour that soaked the turf field,” said Coach Ryon. “There were so many times the ball completely stopped dead in its tracks because the water was so high. It made playing very difficult and potentially dangerous. Nevertheless both teams seemed to enjoy some moments where the ball was turned over due to puddles on the turf.”

Cortland was led by Mallory Turner (2 goals), Maude Terwilliger (1 goal), Maia Quick (1 assist), Ella Quick (1 assist), and Lily Call.

Up next, Cortland will host Skaneateles at 5pm on Tuesday (October 7th).

Varsity Girls Soccer: Marathon vs. Moravia

The Marathon Lady Olympians got their 10th win of the season, as they beat Moravia with a score of 5-2 under severe weather conditions.

The Olympians were led by Delta Barber (2 goals), Paige Hurlburt (1 goal & 1 assist), Lindsay Courtney (1 goal & 1 assist), Audrey Jasper (1 goal), Brooke Tillotson (1 assist), and Breya VanDee.

Marathon’s goalie Kendre Euson made 3 saves in the game.

Marathon’s next game will be against Union Springs on Tuesday (October 5th) at 4:30pm.
