Press release from the Cortlandville Fire Department.

Cortlandville Firefighters were back at it this morning assisting the Town of Cortlandville Highway clearing a clogged culvert pipe on West River Rd. Last night's heavy rain caused several culvert pipes to become clogged throughout Cortland County.

As of 11:00am (10/5/21) West River Rd remains closed while the Town of Cortlandville Highway works to clear the culvert.

In addition to Cortland County fire crews responding to multiple calls for service, local, state and county highway crews worked throughout the night to clear the roadways. Additionally, the Cortland County Department of Emergency Response and Communications handled multiple storm related calls and directed appropriate resources as well as providing aid to area fire departments.

With being into the fall season, be sure to check storm drain and culvert pipes on and near your property; and make sure they are clear.
