Cortland Weather Outlook: Wednesday, October 6

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, October 6, 2021:

Moisture trapped near the surface underneath high pressure will keep skies cloudy for much of today.

Rain showers will be few and far between, but drizzle and fog will persist deep into the morning, similar to yesterday. During the midday hours, the fog and drizzle will dissipate, but skies will remain cloudy into the afternoon.

The best chance for some glimpses of sunshine will be late in the afternoon. Even this will be limited, though.

Fog and low clouds will redevelop after sunset and through the overnight. Some patchy drizzle will be possible, and a stray shower cannot be ruled out.

Winds will once again be nearly calm. What little breeze there is will be from the north this morning, the east this afternoon, and the southeast tonight.

Despite the clouds and lack of wind, the eroding away of the low level moisture during the afternoon will allow temperatures to creep upwards. Highs will be in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees.

Temperatures tonight will drop into the upper 50s early on and will bottom out in the mid 50s around midnight. A slight increase in temperatures back to the upper 50s will take place after midnight as the southeast wind strengthens to around 5 mph.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Thursday: Sun, clouds, and maybe a few showers. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.

Friday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s.

Saturday: Sun and clouds. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.
