Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, October 7, 2021:

High pressure remains overhead, but low level moisture trapped beneath the high will continue to keep skies rather cloudy today.

Early morning areas of fog and drizzle will burn off by mid-morning, leaving just clouds in place. Through the midday and afternoon, the sun will attempt to make several appearances. The later in the day, the more successful these will become.

By the late afternoon and twilight hours, skies may become more evenly balanced between clouds and sunshine, and during the first half of the night, it may become mostly clear.

But, as the night goes on, fog and low clouds will redevelop throughout the area.

It will be another day of light and variable winds. Speeds will be under 5 mph and the direction will most commonly be from the southwest or west.

Temperatures will climb into the low and mid 70s this afternoon. A quick drop to the upper 50s will take place this evening, followed by a slower decent into the mid 50s overnight.

Saturday: Clouds, some sun, and perhaps a stray shower. Morning lows in the upper 50s. Afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy. A few showers. Morning lows in the mid 50s. Afternoon highs in the upper 60s.

Monday: Morning clouds giving way to afternoon sun. Morning lows in the low 50s. Afternoon highs in the low 70s.
