The Homer Trojans ended their season at the OHSL Fall Sectional Championships, placing 6th overall on Tuesday (October 5th, 2021).

The Trojans ended their regular season with an overall record of 11-4.

10 schools participated in the Sectional Championships on Tuesday. These schools include Homer, Westhill, Christian Brothers Academy, Skaneateles, Cazenovia, Chittenango, LaFayette, Jordan-Elbridge, Phoenix, and Tully.

Homer’s Mitch Riter qualified for State Qualifiers with an overall score of 79 points. Only 25 percent of the competition was able to qualify for States (80 individual points was the cut, meaning you'd need less than 80 points to qualify).

According to Homer Head Coach Sean Malone, Riter had a “slow start finishing his front 9 with his highest 9 hole score (44) of the season but rebounded well and shot 1 under 35 on the back side to move on to the spring with a 79. He battled when most kids would have given up.”

Here are the Final team results of Tuesday’s competition:

  1. Westhill - 390
  2. Christian Brothers Academy - 403
  3. Skaneateles - 428
  4. Cazenovia - 434
  5. Chittenango - 438
