Taylor man faces multiple felony, misdemeanor charges from incident in Cortlandville

A town of Taylor man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges following an incident on Penguin Drive in the Cortland Estates Manufactured Home Community in the town of Cortlandville this past Sunday.

According to a Cortland County Sheriff’s Office report, officers responded to a call involving Ryan R. Durkee, aged 28, on Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m.

Durkee was involved in a “physical altercation with an individual,” where he struck a third individual with a “metal object” that caused injuries, the report states. The report noted that Durkee left the scene prior to the police arriving.

The victim that was assaulted by Durkee was transported to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center to treat his injuries.

Upon investigation, officers determined that Durkee violated an order of protection. A warrant for Durkee's arrest was requested by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office and issued by the town of Cortlandville court.

Officers were able to locate and arrest Durkee in the town of Cortlandville this past Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Durkee has been charged with assault in the second degree (a Class-D Felony), criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (a Class-E Felony), menacing in the second degree and criminal contempt in the second degree (Both Class-A Misdemeanors).

Durkee was recently arraigned via the centralized arraignment program at the county jail. He was released on one’s own recognizance.

Durkee is slated to appear in the town of Cortlandville court this Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.
