Cortland Weather Outlook: Saturday, October 16

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Saturday, October 16, 2021:

Today will be a day of change as a strong cold front moves through and puts an end to the mild weather.

As a result of the front, rain is likely throughout today, though there may be some dry breaks here and there.

One of the best chances for some dry time will be during the morning hours. As the front draws closer, the rain chances will increase.

The front may arrive with a burst of rain and gusty winds, followed by several hours of steady rain. Even if there is not a defined burst of rain and wind, a several hour period of rain is still likely.

During the latter half of the afternoon, the rain should become more scattered with a few showers lingering into the evening hours. By midnight, most of the area should be dry with partly cloudy skies.

South winds will be blustery this morning with speeds of 10-15 mph and gusts of 30-35 mph. Following the front, winds will turn to the northwest for the afternoon. Wind speeds will be around 10 mph with gusts around 25 mph.

Temperatures will follow an atypical trend, peaking this morning in the mid 60s, then dropping into the 50s during the afternoon. By dinnertime, it will only be in the mid 50s.

Tonight, the temperature will continue to drop tonight, ending up in the 40s shortly after sunset and into the mid 40s by Sunday morning.
