Cortland County Varsity Boys & Girls Soccer Teams to Play in Sectional Playoffs

The Varsity Soccer regular season recently ended, and many Cortland County teams made it into the Sectional tournament.

Four Section III schools (Cortland, Homer, McGraw & Cincinnatus) and one Section IV school (Marathon) qualified for Sectionals in Cortland County. 

Cortland Purple Tigers

Boys Soccer

The boys’ varsity soccer team will be the 8th seed in the Section III Class A Sectional Tournament. They ended the regular season with a 7-8 record.

The Tigers will host #8 seed Oswego on Tuesday (October 19th). The game will start at 6:30 pm.  

Girls Soccer

The Girls’ varsity soccer team are seeded at #6 in the Section III Class A Sectional Tournament. They ended the regular season with an 6-5 record. 

The Lady Tigers will play in the Quarter-Final round of the Tournament against #3 seed Jamesville-Dewitt on the road on Thursday (October 21st). The start time of the game is yet to be announced. 

Homer Trojans

Girls Soccer

The Homer Lady Trojans ended the season with a 6-9-1 record, and are the 15th seed in the Section III Class B Sectional Tournament bracket. 

The Lady Trojans will play in the preliminary round of the tournament against #18 seed Holland Patent at home on Tuesday (October 19th). The game is scheduled to kickoff at 4:30pm. 

McGraw Golden Eagles

The McGraw Eagles are announced as the 8th seed in the Section III Class D Sectional Tournament bracket, after ending the regular season with a 6-7 record. 

The Eagles will host #9 seeded Town of Webb for a preliminary round on Wednesday (October 20th) at 3pm. 

Girls Soccer

The McGraw Lady Eagles are 11th seed in the Section III Class D Sectional Tournament bracket. They ended their regular season with a 4-6-3 record. 

The Lady Eagles will take on the #6 seeded DeRuyter on Tuesday (October 19th) at 3pm. 

Cincinnatus Lions

Boys Soccer

The Cincinnatus Lions ended their undefeated regular season with a 15-0 record, earning them the #1 seed in the Section III Class D Sectional Tournament. 

The Lions will host the winner of the McGraw vs. Town of Webb game for a Quarter-Final game on Friday (October 22nd) at 3pm. 

Girls Soccer

The Cincinnatus girls’ soccer team are the 3rd seed in the Section III Class D Sectional Tournament bracket. They ended the regular season with a 13-1 record. 

Cincinnatus will host the winner between McGraw and DeRuyter in the Quarter-Final round of the Tournament on Thursday (October 21st) at 3pm. 

Marathon Olympians

The Marathon Olympians ended their regular season with a 9-3-2 record, earning them the #1 seed in the Section IV Class D Sectional Tournament bracket. 

The Olympians will host the winner between 8th seeded Worcester and 9th seeded Hunter-Tannersville in the Quarter-Final round of the Tournament on Friday (October 22nd) at 3:30pm.

Girls Soccer

The Marathon Lady Olympians are seeded 1st in the Section Section IV Class D Sectional Tournament bracket this year, after ending their regular season with a 13-2 record. 

The Lady Olympians will host the winner between 8th seeded Downsville and 9th seeded Morris in the Quarter-Final round of the Tournament on Saturday (October 23rd) at 3:30pm.
