The Marathon Lady Olympians took the IAC Championship title home after winning a close game against Odessa-Montour Central at Tompkins Cortland Community College on Saturday (October 16th).

The Olympians won the game 2-0.

Both of Marathon’s goals were scored in the second half of the game.

According to Marathon Head Coach Elizabeth Duncan, “neither team got a really good look at the goal all game”, until senior Brooke Tillotson cleared the ball from Marathon’s backfield, turning it into a chase down ball for Delta Barber to tap it into the goal to make it 1-0 with about 5 minutes left in the game.

Addison Oram would then make it 2-0 to seal Marathon’s IAC Championship win.

“We always start the season with a set of goals, and one of them was to win the division, and to finally be able to play in the championship at TC3,” said Coach Duncan. “We took care of that by going 5-0 in our division. We never really discussed actually winning the game until this week. I reminded them that we didn't set the goal to come and lose. We set it to come out, work hard, and play our game to win.”

Up next, the #1 seeded Lady Olympians will host the winner between 8th seeded Downsville and 9th seeded Morris in the Quarter-Final round of the Section IV Class D Sectional Tournament on Saturday (October 23rd) at 3:30pm.
