Cincinnatus girls’ soccer team earns shutout win over DeRuyter to advance to the Sectional semi-finals (photo gallery included)

The #3 seeded Cincinnatus varsity girls’ soccer team defeated DeRuyter (6th seed) with a score of 7-0 in the Quarter-Final round of the Section III Class D Sectional Tournament. 

Cincinnatus started things off well, as they took a 4-0 lead at the end of the first half. They then went on to close the game out with three additional second half goals, along with their defense standing strong for the shutout win. 

Cincinnatus’ offense was led by Kyla Sustad (5 goals), Jarisa Temple (1 goal & 2 assists), and Cassia Schuyler (1 goal & 1 assist). 

Goalkeeper Gabriella Taylor had 3 saves in the game for Cincinnatus, while Kelsey Brown made a total of 13 saves for DeRuyter. 

This was Cincinnatus’ last home game of the season, as they are scheduled to play the rest of the tournament at a neutral field.

Up next, Cincinnatus will play the semi-final round of the tournament at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School against Poland (2nd seed). The game is scheduled to kick-off Wednesday (October 27th) at 7pm.
