Cortland Weather Outlook: Tuesday, October 26

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Tuesday, October 26, 2021:

A strong area of low pressure will stall out off the coast of Long Island today, spreading rain back into our region.

The rain already began last night as scattered showers, but steadier rain is building in this morning. The day will end up being a complete washout with steady rain much of the time.

Some of the rain will come down heavy at times and some poor drainage flooding could result. In the daytime hours alone, one to two inches will fall.

The rain will gradually taper off this evening, but showers will continue much of the overnight. An additional quarter to half inch will be possible.

Winds will be from the north thanks to the counterclockwise flow of air into the center of the low pressure system.

Wind speeds will be 5-10 mph during the daytime and 10-15 mph during the nighttime hours. Top gusts will be under 20 mph most of the day but will build to 25-30 mph after midnight.

Temperatures will sit near 50 degrees throughout the day with little change from hour to hour. The temperature will not drop until after midnight but should make it to the mid 40s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Wednesday: Morning clouds. Afternoon sun. Morning lows in the mid 40s. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.

Thursday: Rather sunny. Some thin clouds late. Morning lows in the upper 30s. Afternoon highs near 60.

Friday: Cloudy with showers, especially in the afternoon. Morning lows in the low 40s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.
