Cortland Weather Outlook: Wednesday, November 3

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, November 3, 2021:

Today will be similar to yesterday with clouds, a little sun, and a few rain and snow showers.

The best chance for sunshine will be during the early and mid morning hours. Southwest winds will be in place at this time, keeping the lake effect out of the area.

By the late morning, winds will start to turn to the northwest and precipitation off Lake Ontario will drop southward. This activity will dissipate as it makes it this far south, but a few spits of rain, snow, and graupel are expected.

The chances for a little precipitation will persist into the late afternoon before the action focuses back to the north this evening.

Wind speeds today will be greater than 5 mph but generally less than 10 mph. Top gusts will be around 20 mph.

Temperatures will be similar to yesterday with highs in the low to perhaps mid 40s. As showers and flurries move through, though, temperatures may briefly drop to the upper 30s.

With the lake effect departing tonight, skies may partially clear. This will lead to nighttime temperatures falling into the mid and upper 20s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Thursday: Sun and clouds. Maybe a stray shower. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Friday: More sun than clouds. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 40s.

Saturday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the mid 40s.
