Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, November 4

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, November 4, 2021:

High pressure will build into the area today, reducing the chances for lake effect and increasing our sunshine.

There will still be periods of clouds today, especially during the midday and afternoon hours. Generally, though, there will be more available sunshine than over the last couple days.

With the high pressure moving in overhead, the conditions for lake effect will be rather hostile. Furthermore, winds off Lake Erie will be southwesterly, while Lake Ontario is more westerly. Neither of these directions are favorable for precipitation in Cortland County.

Any stray showers or flurries that do manage to meander our way will be light and brief, but most areas will be dry from start to finish.

Winds here in Cortland County will be light and variable with speeds under 5 mph and varying wind directions.

One thing that will remain constant from the past few days will be the temperatures. Highs will again struggle to get into the low 40s, and nighttime temperatures will quickly fall back into the 20s.

Skies will be mostly clear tonight with a few passing clouds and some river valley fog well after midnight.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:
