Cortland Weather Outlook: Friday, November 5

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, November 5, 2021:

High pressure will continue to take over our weather with increasing amounts of sunshine and decreasing chances for lake effect precipitation.

In fact, precipitation is not expected today. Any lake effect should be limited to the immediate Lake Ontario shoreline, and even then, there will not be much.

Instead, skies will be sunny with some occasional clouds today. It should be sunnier than yesterday, but not as sunny as tomorrow.

A light northwest wind will blow at around 5 mph, thanks to the high pressure being centered over Ohio. This will keep temperatures locked into the same pattern they have been all week.

Look for afternoon highs in the low 40s across the northern part of the county with mid 40s to the south. Temperatures will quickly drop to near 30 this evening and then into the 20s overnight.

Nighttime skies should be mostly clear, a trend that will continue through the weekend.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Saturday: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40s.

Sunday: Mostly sunny. A few thin clouds. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs near 50.
