A town of Homer man was arrested on Wednesday after stealing two vehicles over the last two months that were recovered by Cortland County Sheriff’s Deputies, according to a release Friday morning.

The county sheriff’s office noted in the release that Josh M. Strauf, 31 of Homer, stole a vehicle in both September and in October.

The vehicle stolen on Sept. 29 was reported from an address on Route 41A in Cayuga County with that county’s sheriff’s office, the release states. On Oct. 2, Cortland County sheriff’s deputies recovered the vehicle at an address on East Homer Baltimore Road in the town of Homer.

The release then states that later in the day on Oct. 2, the county sheriff’s office received a stolen vehicle complaint from the same address in the town of Homer. The vehicle was located and unoccupied in the town of Truxton.

The county sheriff’s office determined that Strauf in fact stole both vehicles, the release states. It was also noted that Strauf drove the second stolen vehicle to the town of Cincinnatus.

Strauf has been charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property for both incidents, the release states.

The release noted that Strauf was recently arraigned in the town of Homer Court. His next court date in the town of Homer is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 4 p.m.

Strauf was then remanded to the Cortland County Jail on a $1 cash/$100 bond. He currently has a pending arraignment in the town of Cincinnatus.
