Cortland Weather Outlook: Saturday, November 13

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Saturday, November 13, 2021:

Another weather system will move through the area this morning, then intensify over eastern New York.

Rain showers and some higher elevation snow will spread through the area this morning. None of the precipitation will be overly heavy and it may be on and off in nature.

Once low pressure begins to strengthen to the east, the precipitation may become steadier and heavier for a time during the mid afternoon hours. At the same time, temperatures will drop, so snow will increase, with most areas changing over before the precipitation ends.

A coating of snow may accumulate on some grassy surfaces, especially over higher elevations.

The evening and overnight hours will be quieter, but some stray flurries off Lake Erie may make it this far eastward. Between any flurries, it will be partly cloudy tonight.

Winds will be from the southwest at around 5 mph this morning. Afternoon winds will turn to the west and increase to near 10 mph. Top gusts should remain under 25 mph.

Temperatures will be at their warmest during the late morning, when mid 40s are possible. It will only take a couple hours early in the afternoon to drop into the mid 30s, though. Nighttime temperatures will not drop much more, with overnight lows in the low 30s.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Sunday: Clouds, some sun, and a few showers or flurries through the early afternoon. Then, increasing clouds with snow and some rain late. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs near 40.

Monday: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and flurries. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 30s.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy. Lake effect snow showers. Locally minor accumulations possible. Morning lows in the low 30s. Afternoon highs near 40.

Wednesday: Some early sun. Then, increasing clouds with rain late. Morning lows near 30. Afternoon highs in the mid 50s.
