Cortland Weather Outlook: Thursday, November 25

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Thursday, November 25, 2021:

An approaching weather system will keep skies rather cloudy but temperatures a bit above average for Thanksgiving.

There will be a couple chances for rain today, though anything that falls will be quite light.

First, a few scattered showers will move through during the mid to late morning hours. Then, a better chance for rain will come during the late afternoon and evening hours.

Between the showers, a few glimpses of sunshine may be possible, but most of the time it will just be overcast.

Winds will be from the southwest at near or just over 5 mph. Top gusts on the day will come in around 15 mph.

The wind will help temperatures warm even without the sunshine. Highs should reach the mid 40s this afternoon, which is above five degrees above the daily average high.

Temperatures will drop into the upper 30s to near 40 this evening and remain there much of the overnight. It will not be until a cold front moves through during the predawn hours that temperatures drop to the mid 30s and rain showers turn to flurries. Road conditions should remain just wet, though, even as the rain turns to snow.

Here is a look at the weather for the next several days:

Friday: Windy. Increasing chances for snow, possibly heavy by the late afternoon and evening. Morning temperatures in the mid 30s. Afternoon temperatures in the upper 20s.

Saturday: Flurries and squalls. Morning lows in the low 20s. Afternoon highs in the upper 20s.

Sunday: Increasing clouds. Possibly some light snow late. Morning lows in the upper 10s. Afternoon highs in the low 30s.

Monday: Mostly cloudy with a few snow showers, especially early in the day. Morning lows in the mid 20s. Afternoon highs in the low 30s.
