Your Cortland County weather forecast for Wednesday, December 8, 2021:

A weak area of low pressure will pass south of the area today, spreading in some very light snow.

The snow will be on and off today, and when it is falling, it will do so lightly. Outside of the snow, it will just be cloudy.

Total accumulations through the day should be near or just over an inch. Most roads should remain in good condition, but a few lesser traveled rural roads could see a light coating at times.

The more widespread snow will taper off early this evening, but an occasional lake effect snow shower will be possible through the night.

Winds will be from the south at 5-10 mph much of the day. Around sunset, the wind will turn to the west and drop to near or under 5 mph. West-northwest winds will develop this evening and through the overnight with speeds near or just over 5 mph.

Temperatures will rise to the low 30s this morning and remain steady through the afternoon. After sunset, temperatures will drop to the mid 20s and will remain there through the overnight.

Saturday: Periods of rain. Windy. Morning lows in the mid 30s. Afternoon highs in the upper 50s.

Sunday: Breezy. Increasing sunshine. Morning lows in the upper 20s. Afternoon highs near 40.
