Cortland Weather Outlook: Friday, December 10

Your Cortland County weather forecast for Friday, December 10, 2021:

Warmer air will start to move into the area today following the passage of a warm front last night.

Some drizzle will be possible this morning in the wake of the front. With temperatures close to the freezing mark early this morning, some patchy ice may result from the drizzle.

Temperatures will warm into the mid 30s by the mid-morning hours, ending the threat from any ice.

The rest of the day will be cloudy with perhaps a few brief glimpses of sunshine this afternoon. Clouds will thicken and increase this evening with a few rain showers moving in after midnight.

Wind will primarily be from the south at around 5 mph. The hills in the northern reaches of the county may see wind speeds closer to 10 mph. Top gusts during the day will be around 20 mph in the higher elevations, and less than 20 mph elsewhere.

Temperatures should work their way above 40 degrees this afternoon, though the clouds will cap the warming to that. Evening temperatures will fall back to the low and mid 30s.

Winds and temperatures will increase after midnight. By dawn Saturday, temperatures should be back to the low 40s. Winds will still be from the south, gusting at 25-30 mph for most areas, and up to 35 mph over higher terrain.
