Here are some local high school varsity sports recaps from Thursday’s events:
Varsity Volleyball: Cincinnatus vs. DeRuyter
The Cincinnatus Varsity Volleyball team defeated DeRuyter in three close sets Thursday night.
According to Cincinnatus Head Coach Teresa Merihew, Cincinnatus came from behind and finished strong in all three sets.
“The whole team played strong, and never gave up,” said Coach Merihew. “I am so proud of the ladies for never giving up and playing as a team.”
Cincinnatus was led by Caitlin St. Germain (2 aces, 16 assists & 5 kills), Shannon Ryan (4 aces, 5 kills & 1 block), Allyson St. Germain (2 aces & 9 kills), Jayda Mudge (2 aces & 5 kills), and Kaylee Brenchley (2 aces).
DeRuyter was led by Keely Worlock (6 aces, 5 digs & 2 kills), Olivia Lidel (2 aces, 5 assists & 5 digs), and Kelsey Brown (4 kills)
Up next, Cincinnatus will host Stockbridge Valley on Wednesday (December 22nd) at 7pm.
Varsity Girls Basketball: Homer vs. Westhill
The Homer Lady Trojans lost a tough game against Westhill with a score of 35-55.
The Trojans were led by Catherine Apker (14 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists & 4 steals), Sarah Sovocool (12 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists & 9 steals), and Kayla Miller (2 points, 9 rebounds & 5 steals).
Westhill was led by Catherine Dadey (33 points) and Janiah Robinson (12 points).
Homer’s next game will be on the road against Bishop Ludden on Thursday (December 23rd) at 6:30pm.
Varsity Boys Bowling: Homer vs. Solvay
The Homer Trojans defeated Solvay in order to improve to a 5-0 record on Thursday.
