Cortland Purple Tigers Lose Heartbreaking Holiday Tournament Finals vs. DeRuyter (Game Photos Included)

The Cortland Purple Tigers lost a close game to DeRuyter Rockets in the final round of the “Cortland Holiday Tournament” with a score of 46-48. 

The Tigers started things off well with a 10-point lead (26-16) at halftime. However, the Rockets had a strong third quarter. They outscored Cortland 3-16 to gain a 29-32 lead. 

It ultimately all came down to a back and forth battle in the final quarter of the game, where the Rockets were able to come out victorious. 

Cortland was led by Max Gambitta (23 points. 8 rebounds & 3 steals), Emerson Johnson (9 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists & 1 block), and Marvin Bell (5 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals & 1 block).  

DeRuyter was led by Gavin Richardson (34 points, 5 rebounds & 2 steals), Andrew Glisson (6 points, 1 steal & 1 block), and Brandon Darrow (3 points, 6 rebounds & 2 assists). 

With this loss, Cortland has fallen to a 5-2 record, while DeRyuter improved to a 5-1 record.
